The basic techniques of metal working haven’t changed since metal began to be refined and manipulated many thousands of years ago. This is particularly true for the blacksmith because, basically, if you heat metal up, things happen. Most of the metal we come across is used for practical things, bicycles, spoons, door handles and so on. I make these things but try to stretch them from the purely practical. And then there’s art.
