Love seat
Commissioned by the Lithgow City Council and Glencore
The Love Seat is part of The History Avenue project in Inch Street, Lithgow.

The project was supported by Lithgow City Council and Glencore and consists of a series of posts topped by a sculptural work and each representing an important date between 1813 (European crossing of the Blue Mountains) and 1929 (closure of the Lithgow steel works). I developed the concept, designed and made the posts and some of the top bits. I also made two supplementary works and the love seat
is one.
The style of the love seat is based, of course, on the un-finished Harbour Bridge. The form is about staying safe whilst in love, perhaps.
The group photo shows some of the metal workers who were involved in making the sculptural finials.
