Noon Dial
Commissioned by The Blue Mountains City Council
This work was commissioned by the Blue Mountains City Council to commemorate the demolition of the “Lawson Shops”, a controversial event at the time. It involves two things I’m very interested in – shadows and plaques.
After a lot of discussion, ideas proposed and rejected we agreed on the noon dial. Basically, a shadow caster and a reference point, a line of bricks oriented north/south plus a plaque. The plaque explains the coefficient of time and gives a list of a few things that have happened over the years.
