riveted sphere

Commissioned by Lithgow City Council and Glencore

This is the other History Avenue work .It consists of a plaque on a stand and a large riveted sphere, almost buried.

Lithgow has many industrial remnants and, at the end of the project, I decided to make a fake one. The first bit of text on the plaque explains the site which was used to dump and then mine and recycles slag from the steel works, this is true. The second part explains that the buried sphere is part of a C.G.S. energy recycler which was used to “power the dreams of local residents”. This is not so true.
